Orbinski calls Canada to action on HIV/AIDS


“We can end AIDS”

Canada must step up funding for anti-retroviral drug therapy around the world, if we are to achieve an end to the AIDS epidemic.

2030+ Group Principal, Dr. James Orbinski, and Heather Johnston, President and CEO of Dignitas International make this strong case in a Globe and Mail editorial published today.

“Treatment as prevention is at the heart of an ambitious UNAIDS strategy known as “90-90-90”: by 2020, 90 per cent of all people will know their HIV status, 90 per cent of all people diagnosed with HIV will receive treatment and 90 per cent of all people receiving treatment will successfully achieve viral suppression to prevent transmission to others.”

But according to UNAIDS, we only have five years to do this.
